  1. it's so lovely to have a garden, go to old time pottery, they have people there who can give you excellant tips and show you how to do it
  2. if your garden thingy is outside, make sure you8 put somehting shiny that moves to keep the birds from eating it..... and alot of yuor gardening stuff depends on how big your box should be..... make sure you space things out and water when needed... put it in a place where there eis sunlight and shade...
  3. its very easy dear.........u must be know every thing.tc
  4. ok, a good thing to so is, . . you said you have a box, how big is it,(sandbox size?) a good thing to do is fill it with top soil , you can get some in bags from your local greenhouse or lowes - home depo.(if the box you are using has a bottom, make sure it has drainage holes at the bottom) after you have good dirt in it, cover it in plastic, you can also get this plastic (row cover) at greenhouses or depo store., lay the plastic. then plant your plants right through the plastic,(try to keep any holes you make small, the plastic is to keep moisture in and weeds down,) now the plants, easiest thing to do is go to your local greenhouse and buy them, i do not suggest going to lowes or depo store, you can get way better quality plants for a cheaper price at a locally owned business (lol, thats me) if you want to grow them yourself, (from seed,), its a little more complicated, you can get the supplys at a strore, and then just follow the instructions on the package...
  5. Make sure your box has good drainage and put a layer of stones in the bottom to be extra sure. Fill it with newly bought compost and dig in some concentrated manure like 6x (read the instructions!) or some fish, blood and bone. Or even better, start a home compost bin and fill it with soil from that. I hope your plastic box is strong because soil is heavy stuff! Get started soon, because summer's on it's way and some veg need an early start! There's so much info I could give you but I don't have time to write down EVERYTHING you need to know. All the basic advice is on the backs of seed packets you buy, so pay attention to them. You can also get loads of veg-specific growing advice from the sites below: http://www.allotment.org.uk/container-growing/garden-vegetables-containers.php http://www.gardenaction.co.uk/vegetable-index.asp I especially recommend growing courgettes/zucchini, french beans, peas and lettuces; they're all really really easy! Good luck!
